Zasha is an artist and conservation biologist of mixed indigenous Hawaiian and Irish blood. Her paintings express nostalgia as altars to phenomena that feed her deeper, quieter parts. For her the act of painting is an expression of self care as well as s way of honoring the diversity in life. Watercolor and gouache are found in almost all paintings as well as some mixture of colored pencil, acrylic, ink, mica, and gold foil. Mixing media allows for surprising interactions and celebrates each material's individual qualities. The media as well as the subject matter are curious and ever changing but the sentiment is always to bring us back home to an ancestral connection.
